So Steven calls me two days before the Emmy’s to pop the question, and of course I say “YES!! I want the tickets”.
I pulled out the Greek Designer Dress I bought on a whim in Mykonos called up Rachel and the story unfolds in the FACELOADS below.
From Emmy’s all the way to Truesdale’s kitchen at 4am.

I finally got Ouzo…which is like jagermeister on crack…and I found out that Ouzo makes me want to share and play like a child:)
Elle took me, Helena, Rhiannon, and John Angelo to dinner at Gola and we had Ouzo with a view after our meal.

Later on, Rhi, John and I met up with the boys of the house and all I wanted to do was play with the little boy who sold me my glow necklace and then share it with everyone. Russ told me I paid the boy 10 times too much but it was 15 euro that made me smile all night.

Blake Mycoskie Moment

I will intro you to the coolest guys in greece who will show you a good time like no other. I was just with them for a few weeks!

Gents, Angie is one of my best friends…take care of her!

My time in Santorini was bliss thanks to Blake. Blake’s friends are exactly the kind you want to meet when traveling. Paminos, Maria, and Paris showed me the best views in the city(from their friend’s home), introduced me to quite the cast of characters - their Athens friends visiting Santorini from all over the world, and showered their kindness driving me around and making me feel like a local:)

Paminos - The adorable young businessman who reminded me of Blake with his floppy hair, kind eyes, and quiet intelligence.

Maria - Girlfriend to Paminos and the blond fairy who seemed to appear by my side any time I started to feel a bit foreign in the group of friends.

Paris - the serious banker with an inner boyishness….constantly contradicting my assumptions but showing me what gentlemen Greek men are when he delivered my passport to me after I left the island of Santorini without it.

And we all shared one big commonality – a love for TOMS and Blake!

Rhiannon Moment

Underwater photos at lia! Rhiannon brings out the fun in angie. Rhiannon arrived in Mykonos two days before I am to leave and she is the goddess of glendisi(Greek for fun!)

Helena Puvacic Moment

Elle’s friend, Helena is a little spunky Croatian beauty with an endless amount of energy and a mouth that spits out words faster than anyone I’ve met…and words of all languages. She’s helped me to understand more of our world and also myself in it.
I love her style so much so that I remembered her outfit when we were briefly introduced 3 years ago. I will wear my evil eye bracelet and always think of her.

“Here is evil eye bracelet to protect you from negative energy. An old tradition in greece. For example, my friend has most beautiful teeth and someone says your teeth are so beautiful and she falls and breaks her tooth. This evil eye protects. It’s the evil eye against jinx.”

Helenisms:)

1. Start the day with a shot of olive oil.

2. Hot food is not to be eaten…its not digested properly.

3. The sea sun olive oil will cure you.

4. These women are bored and pay thousands for trainers. I do leg kicks for a week and my butt lifts and becomes brazilian butt.

5. Those weren’t cats dying angie those were cats mating because the males penis is shaped like a pine tree and scratches the female!

6. You are crazy. You have toothpaste on your face for zits when you run and the dogs licked it. You are an inspiration!

7. You wear the grandma bikini that you pull up so high but I love you because you don’t care and have the 5 boys around you.

8. A Mykonos cop told my cab driver to move his car and cab driver yells “Shut man! Don’t you see I’m on the phone!?”

There is a Catholic church (Virgin of St Rosary) in Mykonos. You can find it for a peaceful reflection time. Thank God for your chance to see this beautiful world!

You both really should do a greece trip to islands. People in greece are like in italy. So nice and its unreal here! the energy is like nothing I’ve ever felt. In Antiparos I ran, walked around, met people, and then slept for 9 hrs….and u know I can never sleep. Dad, Tom Hanks comes here every aug!

After missing Mom and Dad Banicki’s DC trip, I decided I should do Mom Banicki’s suggestion and visit the only Catholic Church in Mykonos located right on the water. It’s actually a Mom moment because Elle’s mom Sonia said that the one thing I had to do was go down by the Virgin of St. Rosary and watch the sunset:)

Mykonos lies 95 nautical miles from the port of Piraeus. It has only about 10000 inhabitants. During the warm months thousands of tourists spend their holidays on the island.

For the spiritual benefit of the thousands of Catholic tourists and the few Catholic inhabitants of the island, there is in Mykonos only one Catholic Church which is situated in Alefcandra Square near the picturesque windmills of Mykonos. It is worth mentioning that in the visitors book of the church, for 1997, 12156 visitors wrote their names.

Angie, you must meet up with my friend Elle! Not sure if you will be in the same part of Greece that she is, but she’s amazing! Elle, my friend Angie is a TON OF FUN! I hope you guys can connect while there! oxox ~Ashlee

Ashlee couldn’t have connected me with a better match! Elle and I were nonstop chatterbox the minute we met…and I haven’t left her since! I write this sitting at the infinity pool at Elle’s Greek Chateau on the water.I’ve been living My Big Fat Greek Chateau life at Elle’s house which sits akin to her brother Russ’s. The two siblings host guests all summer creating a Greek Island experience that feels like a myth…from the beach trips-every day a new sandy sétting- to the nightlife-Rock & Roll stripper poles and late night gyros. My favorite part – Elle still runs her business in between beach and bars. She’s mastered the art of balancing epichirisi(business) and hedone(pleasure).

Elle and her cute bro and straight friends took me out to see the gay queen scene of Mykonos. We hit up Jackie O’s and Rock&Roll!

Go to Antiparos which is the island across from Paros. Both are off the beaten “Greece” path of Santorini etc but lovely little islands with adorable stretches of cute shopping and town. That’s the only places I have been. Love that you do these trips, you’re my travel hero. ~Sam

My most important Moment of the day!!

Paros…Elaea(olive tree)

Written on menu-
This tree appeared on earth 3 million years ago.
By the mythology the tree was planted by the goddess Athena in the Acropolis and it became the holy tree of Athens.
In ancient Greece it was worshipped as the symbol of wisdom, peace, and euphoria. Since then it is the pride of the Greek earth.
In our restaurant ‘Elaea’ we choose to cook only with the seed of the holy tree…..
