#22- Joy Highlights

Joy does my highlights at the Alex Roldan Salon in the London Hotel in West Hollywood.
She adds a bit of joy to my dirty blond hair. Every time I leave her, I tell her I feel cleaner:)
Joy was my inspiration today.
She is probably 80 lbs, 60 or so years old, and wears her blond hair in two mini pigtail buns….always. Today Joy had on pink glasses!

Below are “Joyisms” that I hope will inspire you!

JOYISM #1 – Joy in Reading:

“Joy! I woke up this morning out of sorts, and I think it’s because I’m reading a book called “The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep.”

“Do you ever read fiction? ever heard of “The Girl who kicked the Hornets’ Nest”? It’s part of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series!”

“Oooh. Do you like?”, I asked.

“No. I don’t like…..I love!” Joy is pretty even keeled and mellow but she lights up as sh,e talks about the book. “I actually have the Book on CD. I listen in my car.”

“How far do you drive and listen?” I tell her I’d like to try book on CD.

“Twenty minutes and that’s all I get…..Ok, fine. Sometimes I have to circle the block a few times or so, because I just don’t want it to end. Simon, the brit reading aloud, just keeps me captivated.”

JOYISM #2 – Joy on Yoga:

“Are you going running after I do your hair, Angie? I wish I could run! I only do yoga.”

“I am just getting back into yoga! Where do you go?”, I ask Joy.

“I do Bikram Yoga. I like to sweat out all the poison!”

“NO WAY!! I spent a year obsessed with Bikram!” Ends up Joy and I went to the same place.

“I’ve been doing Bikram Yoga for 30 years now! The man who runs it studied in India and those 26 positions in a row cure something in us. No matter my illness or pain, I leave feeling great!”

JOYISM #3 – Joy on peace:

“Do you ever get Korean Scrub? I swear, if everyone in the world did yoga and Korean Scrub we would never have war.”

NOTE OF JOY – Go to Koreatown, and clean it up at the Korean bathhouse!
